310 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel with excellent performance in high temperature environments. This alloy mainly contains chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni), and due to the high content of these two elements, 310 stainless steel provides excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance.
310 stainless steel contains approximately 25% chromium and 20% nickel. Thanks to this high chromium and nickel content, the alloy shows excellent oxidation resistance even at high temperatures up to 1200°C, and can be used at much higher temperatures than typical stainless steels. Furthermore, 310 stainless steel has excellent resistance to various chemical corrosion phenomena such as stress corrosion cracking, oxidation, and sulfuration.
Thanks to these properties, 310 stainless steel is widely used in various industries where use in high temperature environments is required, such as heat treatment facilities, chemical treatment facilities, power plants, and exhaust systems. This alloy is also preferred by the chemical industry, which requires high corrosion resistance, particularly in environments dealing with sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and nitric acid.
310 stainless steel also has good processability and can be applied in various manufacturing processes such as welding, cutting, and forming. However, due to its high chromium and nickel content, the price is higher than other austenitic stainless steels. Therefore, it must be used appropriately in the required field, taking into account cost and performance.
